The American flintlock pistol developed simultaneously with the American flintlock longrifle, although the longrifle has by far received the greater amount of study. This work was first published in 1950 as a supplement to Dillin's book, The Kentucky Rifle, and includes illustrations and descriptions of five additional pistols by editor George Shumway.
